While the attractive sitting area suits us perfectly and the breakfast is always reliably good, it is the staff who are the icing on this particular cake. From the welcome we each receive as we arrive to swift attentive service, the level of hospitality is perfectly pitched. My particular bug-bear is to choose then place my order, only for the waitress to return saying it’s not available. No such shoddy service here. As we were handed the menu, she apologised; there was no Rarebit available. This shows good communication at back of house and great customer care to front of house. Thank you again. We will be back again and again and again!

Another amazing experience at The Barge Inn. The food is delicious with quality ingredients and there’s plenty of it. The staff are very friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. I can recommend the Sunday Roast it’s so delicious. We will definitely be coming back again.

We had a great welcome in the Cellar Bar for our pre-lunch drink. We also got a very friendly and prompt welcome by the host in the restaurant and were seated straight away. We were served at our table very quickly by a happy and polite lady. Our drinks then food arrived swiftly, and the lady checked we had everything we needed. We weren’t checked back on again during our main, but fortunately everything was good. The food was absolutely delicious, a generous portion and full of flavour. I often need to add salt to my food but always test it first and there was no need as it perfectly seasoned. Our desserts were delicious and beautifully presented too. The two male waiters were excellent too. The young man in the light blue shirt gave us a confident and personable farewell which left a great lasting impression. Thank you!

Review: My last two visits (Jan and March) have been excellent – impressed by the quality of gastro pub food on offer – tasty and well presented. Top marks for the Sunday menu, roasts particularly. They seem to have upped the customer experience – smiling friendly greetings on arrival and cheerful and professional service throughout. There is a good selection of ales too. The overall vibe was a well run, happy and enjoyable place! Well done to all, will be back!
